Augmented Reality: Ground Waters

Combining imagery and video from my Ground Waters series, I've created an interactive, multimedia art experience. My still photographs come alive as colorful crystals grow and overtake the environment through a smart device. An augmented reality app triggers video and sound, allowing viewers to move closer or further away from the print, while the video continues to play.

For my prints, I construct scale models of urban spaces, flood the tiny ecosystem with a crystal solution, and record the ephemeral deterioration with photography and video. As time passes, the growing crystals engulf the structures, transforming them into otherworldly scenes. The AR technology is a simple way to integrate the time-based element into my photographic work.
