The Mission

I created this sculpture for Close Calls at the Headlands Center for the Arts. It depicts the Mission District neighborhood from 16th to 20th Street (North to South) and Harrison to Dolores (East to West), created out of Jell-O and resin.

Over the course of the month-long exhibition, the resin-built Mission District structures stayed bright and colorful, while those made of Jell-O slowly decayed and dehydrated. The contrast between neighborhoods made of different materials demonstrated the vast disparity in the Mission.

I also created photographs which are available for purchase.
