Flood: San Jose ICA

I captured these photos from a site-specific video installation I produced for the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art in 2013. For this project, I constructed scale models of the ICA lobby and documented with time-lapse videos as the model rooms underwent dramatic transformations, including flooding and crystals growing up the walls.

Finally, I projected the videos, on a large scale, back onto the ICA gallery walls. The shifts in scale render the simple materials otherworldly and disorienting. In this way, I hoped to create a viewing experience that disrupted the perceived reality of time and space, thus challenging the viewer to engage with the sensory experience of the moment.
